Blog 643.214

Okay, so I'm not good at coming up with titles.  I thought that should be obvious with my previous posts.  And I have quite a lot to talk about.  Lots has happened in my life since last I blogged.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday passed pretty much uneventful (other than watching my niece and nephew) last week.  Friday, I got my nails done for the first time by Sterling.  She did FAN-TAS-TIC!  Later that evening, I went to 'bowling.'  Ha ha ha.  Alissa invited a whole bunch of people to go, and we got there to find out that they have league bowling on Fridays.  So we played a round of putt putt instead.  And apparently I won.  What?  I'm the one that stinks at this.  Jen was the one that said she was pro.  I was the one that said that I really stink at it.  I really don't know how that happened.  I sure had fun though.  I hope something similar happens to that soon.  It was great fun!

Saturday was the adult session of stake conference, and afterward, Bishop Doxey took as many as would come out to eat at Red Robin.  It was pretty awesome.  I have never seen so many people show up for an adult session of stake conference in my life.  Given, I've only had 3 and a half years of going to the adult session of stake conference...  Ha ha ha.  Me and being a young'un.

Yup.  I'm 21.  And I don't care that I'm not married yet.  What?  How can I be a member of the LDS church and be happy with being single?  It's very easy.  I know who I am.  I know that I am a daughter of God.  And it hurts me when I post a picture of my nails on facebook and have someone comment that I don't have a ring on my left ring finger.

Okay, sorry for the tangent.  Back to stake conference.  The Sunday session was held at the Tabernacle in Ogden.  It'll be the last time it'll be there for a few years, seeing as how they're demolishing the Temple to rebuild it, and removing the spire from the Tabernacle.  The Temple President and Matron were our guest speakers at this session.  I learned so much from them.  I loved the chance I got to eat in the Temple Presidents dining room.  I will never forget that experience.  The old Ogden Temple will always hold a special place in my heart, as the first Temple I have ever been to.  It still is the only Temple I have ever been to, but that will change coming April 1st.

The Temple President mentioned the Atonement.  How that is the gospel of Jesus Christ.  How we can learn more about the atonement if we go to the Latin or Spanish word.  I don't remember the exact words in Latin and Spanish, but the English equivalent is reconciliation.  It means, "to sit down with God again."  Again.  Meaning, we've been there before.  And through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can sit down with him, again.  How glorious of a principle that is!  "We believe that through the Atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel."  Is it any coincidence that that is the third article of faith, while the next gives you the first principles and ordinances of the gospel?  "We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are first, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, second, repentance, third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, fourth, laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost."

The Temple President also mentioned that in Doctrine and Covenants 128:11, summum bonum means highest good.  It's amazing what little insights like that can make to the scriptures.  He was talking about how important it is to do work for our dead.  How wonderful that the family life exists beyond the grave!  How wonderful it will be to see loved ones that I have lost!  That day of resurrection will surely be glorious!

I have bittersweet feelings about the Temple being redesigned.  But I know all things happen for a reason.  The Lord has his great and eternal purposes.  I've heard many people outraged by the oncoming renovations.  I will not complain though.  I know there is wisdom in this matter.  And I trust in my Heavenly Father.
